Care4Kids and Early Start CT are not mutually exclusive. Your family can qualify for both, and pairing them could make tuition as low as $0 a week.
Security Deposit
Equal to 1 week tuition (varies by age group) and returnable with 2 weeks notice if you leave, or when your child graduates. Collected upon pre-enrollment.
Enrollment Fee
One-time $75 non-refundable fee needed to add your family to our system and process paperwork. Collected upon completing the enrollment packet.
Payment methods:
Brightwheel is preferred, cash, card and check also accepted.
Care4Kids
The Care 4 Kids program aims to make childcare affordable for low to moderate income families in Connecticut. The program is a partnership between the State of Connecticut, the families, and the providers.
The income limit for families applying for Care 4 Kids must be less than 60% of the State Median Income (SMI) based on your family size. You can verify if you qualify.

How to Apply
- Check your eligibility on the Care4Kids website
- Fill out the Application Form through the website
- Submit your application online through Care4Kids
- Notify our center once you have been approved and invited from the waitlist
- Complete the PPA form to start collecting benefits.
Keep in mind: Care4Kids currently has a waitlist roughly 8 months long.
Early Start CT
Early Start CT is a state funded program that offers financial aid for qualifying families through sliding scale tuition. Tuition is calculated using the current SMI chart and is based on income and family size. GCDC has 53 funded slots: 28 Infant/Toddler, 21 Preschool and 4 School Age.

Request an Early Start CT slot for your child, since slots are limited and usually fill up quickly.
Provide Tax Return
Provide our Center Director with your most recent tax return showing household income and family size.
Authorize Eligibility
Authorize our center to use your data to determine eligibility and calculate your weekly tuition through the ECE Reporter Calculator. Slots are distributed based on need, waitlist status and availability.
